SHOW INFO >> ACTS >> LA NOUBA
Roue Allemande (German Wheel) - Originating in Germany as a popular gymnastic
exercise, the german wheel consists of two metal hoops, each 6.5 feet in diameter and connected by rungs at six points. In La Nouba, the wheel act
astounds audiences with gravity-defying feats performed within, outside of, and along with the wheel by twin brothers, Stacey and Bruce
Bilodeau. The costumes and wheel seem flourescent amidst the dark nightmarish lighting
onstage...
Funambule (High Wire - Two men and one woman ascend 34 feet above the stage
and amaze the eyeing spectators by performing feats of balance, control, and poise on a wire a half-inch thick extending 90 feet across.
Diabolos - A variation of the Diabolos act from Quidam, four Chinese performers ages 8-10 turn a Chinese child's game into an act demonstrating
agility, precision, and acrobatics using the strength of the human body and a Chinese yo-yo.
Velos (Cycles) - The two-part act includes a BMX biker who executes tricks
known as G-turns, megaspins, and boomerangs- with complete accuracy and much agility! The second part of the act includes an artist on a mountain-bike who
jumps over an unsuspecting audience member, bikes on one wheel into the audience and back onstage, and jumps to the innards of the stage
all without setting a single foot down to the ground.
Cadre aerien (Aerial Cradle)- A female and male artist demonstrate equality
between the sexes in a door frame suspended 34 feet above the stage. Using grace and strength, this act teaches an invaluable lesson on how all men are
created equally.
Ballet air et soie (Aerial Ballet in Silk) - In a heartmelting demonstration
of contortion, strength, and emotion, five artists (one male and four females) wrap themselves within a cocoon of long red swatches of tissu
(fabric).
Equilibre sur chaises (Balancing on Chairs) - A hit in Cirque's '92 production,
Nouvelle Experience, Vasily Demenchoukov's act of balancing on 8 chairs stacked in different patterns while
carrying a spinning cake lit with candles is also a hit in La Nouba!
Grands Volants (Flying Trapeze) - Avoiding collision by just inches, a handful
of skilled trapeze artists treat the visual senses...53 feet above the stage! Synchronicity is the key in this astounding act.
Power Track/Trampoline - Amazing acrobats show off their tricks in what just
might be the most crowd-pleasing act of La Nouba! The theatre is virtually set on fire as talented acrobats
criss-cross eachother missing one another by inches and trampolinists propel themselves up and down a "building"-taking
what they do best to an all-new level.
